Mary Elizabeth Padillo of Winchester, VA passed away Friday, December 10, 2021 at Lynn Care Center, Front Royal. She was 95 years old.
Mary was born in 1926 in Takoma Park, MD to the late John Leslie and Bessie Irene White and was a lifelong member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. At the age of 16, she was recruited by the government to work for the State Department during WWII. After the war at various times she worked for the Office of Veteran Affairs and the Labor Department but her favorite job was raising a family. Mary loved to travel and her favorite trip was a Baltic Cruise on her 80th birthday with a stop in St. Petersburg, Russia. She loved roller coasters and merry go rounds even into her later years. Mary was the heart of her family and the go to person giving wise counsel and keeping everyone updated on just about anything related to her large family. She will be greatly missed.
Mary married Gabriel Eugene Padillo on June 23, 1968 in Spencerville, MD.
She is survived by her husband, Gabriel; sons, John (Carolann) of Redlands, CA, Douglas (Sheryll) of Portland, OR, Paul, of Portland, ME, and Michael of Flint Hill, VA; grandchildren, Christopher, Jacob and Kristin Rosario, Ryan Potterton, Daniel Wlliams, and five great grandchildren.
Mary is preceded in death by her sisters; Norma Ripley, Ollie Meadows and Evelyn Etherington and brothers, Robert, John, Melvin and Charles White.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 from 3-5 PM with a funeral service the following day, Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at 1pm all held at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park.
