Mary Dale “Susie” Thomas, 69 of Middletown, VA passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2023, at Winchester Medical Center.

Susie was born on November 23, 1953, in Washington, DC, the daughter of the late Lawrence and Margaret Dale. Susie was a graduate of Washington Lee High School. She was a lover of Christ and expressed that in her blog, “Growing in Grace”, and her weekly bible study. In her spare time, Susie enjoyed crossword and jigsaw puzzles. She loved interior decorating, for which she had a tremendous talent. Susie loved being outside, enjoying gardening, woodworking, and tending to her animals. More than anything, she loved the beach and spent as much time as she could visiting the family home in Nags Head, NC.

She married Richard V. Thomas on August 2, 1972, in Great Falls, VA.

Susie is survived by her daughters, Katie Harrison and her husband Steve of Cross Junction, VA;Susannah Cleland and her husband Scott of Portland, OR; Maggie Thomas of Winchester, VA;and Rachel Thomas and her husband Cody Sickler of Portland, OR; grandchildren, Reilly, Caroline, Maddie, Kirsten, Halley, Nick, Abby, and June; and great-grandchild, Tommy; sisters, Margaret “Sissie” Lewis and her husband Tim of Falls Church; and brother L.T. Dale and his wife Suzanne of Lovettesville, VA.

Along with her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her sister, Janie Dale of Arlington, VA.

The family will receive friends on Thursday evening, April 6, 2023, from 4:00 pm-5:00 pm, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.

A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, April 6, 2023, at 5:00 pm at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions made in memory of Susie may be made to the National Parks Conservation Association (support.npca.org).
