Mary Ann Dinger, 91, of Winchester, VA, died Monday, May 4, 2015, at Orchard Woods Health Center.
Mrs. Dinger was born in 1923, in Winchendon, MA, the daughter of the late John and Rosalia Vachowski. She was a graduate of the University of Virginia, receiving a B.S. in Education, an M.A. in English, and a Ph.D. in Education. During the 1970’s, Mrs. Dinger was Associate Director of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Virginia.
She married Edward H. Dinger in 1944, in Schenectady, NY. He preceded her in death in 1994.
Surviving are two daughters, Susan M. Dailey (Doug) of Winchester, VA, Meg L. Baker (Mike) of Kensington, MD; two sons, Kenneth E. Dinger (Lisa) of Fairfax, VA, Roger B. Dinger of Siler City, NC; seven grandchildren, Matthew Dinger (Christine), Larry Dinger, Mitchell Baker, Morgan Baker, Francesca Dinger, Veronica Dinger, Rachel Dinger; and three great grandchildren, Henry, Augustus and Oliver Dinger.

The family will receive friends on Thursday evening, from 6:00–8:00 p.m., at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, in Winchester.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church with Father Stanley Krempa officiating. Interment in Waynesboro, VA, will be private.
