Mary Alice Reel
Mary Alice Reel, 86, of Winchester, Virginia, passed away Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at her residence.
Mrs. Reel was born in 1924 in Arthur, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Issac Franklin and Hattie Porter. She retired after many years as a seasonal employee in production with National Fruit. Mrs. Reel was an active member of Burnt Presbyterian Church. She served in several capacities within the Women of the Church. She enjoyed gardening; including her violets, quilting and many other crafts.
Her husband, Jim Judy Reel, whom she married on August 17, 1946 in Winchester, Virginia, preceded her in death in 1979.
Surviving are three daughters, Sandra K. Reel of Winchester, Virginia, Cynthia White and her husband, Garland of Stephens City, Virginia, and Janice Schaff and her husband, Eric, of Winchester, Virginia; a son, George Reel and his wife, Linda of Middletown, Virginia; a very special friend, Linda Beavers and her husband, Tommy of Winchester, Virginia; three grandchildren, Meredith Evonne Reel of Middletown, Virginia, Christopher Jason Reel of Winchester, Virginia, and James Hoover, III of Stephens City, Virginia; a great grandchild, Tehya Herbaugh; two sisters, Hazel Combs and Rose Combs, both of Lakeland, Florida; and a brother, Christian Porter of Elkins, West Virginia. She is preceded in death by her parents and five brothers.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel with Pastor Patrick Lanaghan officiating. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.
