Mary Alice Mitchem, 71, of South Carolina, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, at Prisma Health Richland Hospital, Columbia, South Carolina.

Born in May 1949 in Harlan, Kentucky she was the daughter of the late Glenn and Dorothy Baker. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Mrs. Mitchem worked as a housekeeper for several years at the Charles Town Baptist Church in West Virginia. She loved to plant flowers and work in her flower beds. Mrs. Mitchem was an avid cat and dog mom. She also enjoyed baking, especially desserts.

Her husband, Ernest Mitchem, preceded her in death in 2013.

Surviving is a son, Shaun Mitchem of West Columbia, South Carolina and a daughter, Nicole Rose of Bunker Hill, West Virginia; five grandchildren, Sevarina Rose Warner, Ryan, Cailee, Sophia, and Bella Rose; three great grandchildren, Evan, Ariel, and Olivia Warner; a sister, Sue Duvall; and two brothers, Junior and Frank Baker.

A service will be conducted at 11:15 am on Tuesday, January 12th, at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel with Pastor Alan Morrison officiating. Entombment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park Mausoleum, Winchester, Virginia.
