Marvin B. “Butch” Puckett, Jr.
Marvin Berkeley “Butch” Puckett, Jr., 65, of Brucetown, Virginia, died Sunday, January 19, 2014, in his home.
Mr. Puckett was born in 1948, in Indianapolis, Indiana, the son of the late Marvin B. and Norma J. Puckett. He was a Veteran having served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Mr. Puckett received the Purple Heart, Congressional Medal of Honor, the Bronze Star and Medal of Valor. He was a postal worker with the United States Post Office and for the past 4 years worked as a landscaper in Winchester.
Surviving is his daughter, Celena Astra Puckett-Smith of Fresno, California; son, Marvin “Marty” Berkeley Puckett, III of Fresno, California; grandson, James Smith; brothers, William “Sage” Puckett of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Mark Puckett of Harrisonburg, Virginia; nephew, Glenn Hummer of Inwood, West Virginia and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
One sister, Cynthia Hummer and one brother, Anthony Keith Puckett, preceded him in death.
A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Monday, at Macedonia United Methodist Church with Pastor Jason Duley officiating. Interment will follow at Macedonia Cemetery. Military honors will be afforded by V.F.W. Post #2123.
