Martha S. Clarke
Martha Lynn Shaver Clarke, 69, of Fort Seybert, West Virginia, formerly of Winchester, Virginia, died Thursday, April 21, 2011, in Winchester Medical Center.
Mrs. Clarke was born in 1941, the daughter of the late Alfred J. Shaver and Wilma V. Shaver Zirk. Mrs. Clarke retired from the Winchester Medical Center in 2004 after 25 years of service. She worked as a secretary in the Respiratory Therapy Department and the Chaplain’s Office and more recently as a Volunteer Coordinator. She attended Franklin Presbyterian Church in Franklin, West Virginia and was a member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Denton, Texas. Mrs. Clarke was formerly a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church in Winchester. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution in Moorefield, West Virginia and formerly in Winchester.
She married Presley W. Clarke, Jr., on May 17, 1958, in LaVale, Maryland.
Surviving with her husband are two sons, David S. Clarke and his wife, Beth, of Berryville, Virginia, Darren T. Clarke and his wife, Suzanne, of Tampa, Florida; grandchildren, Patrick Clarke, Benjamin Clarke, Katherine Clarke, Savannah Clarke and Mackenzie Clarke; one great grandchild, Elias Hayes; her sister, Mary S. Dettra of McLean, Virginia and two brothers, Bennie N. Shaver of Milam, West Virginia and B. Eugene Shaver of Staunton, Virginia.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Wednesday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, with Chaplain Peter Ford officiating. Interment will be private.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening, from 6:00-8:00 PM, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
