Martha B. Ryan

        Martha Amelia Bowers Ryan, 87, of Frederick County, Virginia, died Wednesday, April 16, 2014, in Winchester Medical Center.

 

Mrs. Ryan was born in 1927, in Winchester, Virginia, the daughter of the late Robert W. and Mary D. Bowers.  She was a graduate of John Handley High School, Class of 1945, and a homemaker. Martha was known for her love of all sports. She enjoyed watching them whenever possible and was even voted most athletic in high school. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

 

She married Robert Scott Ryan, Sr. on February 21, 1953, in Winchester, Virginia.

Surviving with her husband is her daughter, Ann Scott Snapp and husband, Franklin; son, Robert Scott Ryan, Jr. and wife, Lisa; three grandchildren; Amy, Andrew and Harley, and brother, Robert “Bobby” Bowers and wife, Pat, all of Winchester, Virginia.

 

One sister, Ann Ritter, preceded her in death.

 

The family will receive friends, prior to the service, on Sunday, April 27, 2014, from 1:00 – 3:00 PM, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.

 

A Memorial service will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Sunday, April 27, 2014, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.  Interment will be private.
