Mark Zane Edmonson
Mark Z. Edmonson, 61, of Winchester, VA, passed peacefully from this life on Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at his home.
Mr. Edmonson was born April 7, 1949 to Leroy W. Edmonson and Brownie C. Edmonson in Winchester, VA. He was employed by Rubbermaid Commercial Products for 31 years. He served 6 years in the National Guard and was a member of the Winchester Volunteer Rescue Squad for 10 years.
He was a member of Faith Revival Church where his father-in-law, Rev. Cletus Palmer is pastor. Mr. Edmonson is survived by his wife of 38 years, Kay Palmer Edmonson and a daughter Sandy Holthaus of Winchester. He also leaves behind two grandsons, Adam Scott Holthaus and Ryan Blake Holthaus, both of Winchester. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He is also survived by two brothers, Larry Edmonson and Wayne Edmonson, both of Winchester. Three sisters, Frances Lee, Linda Johnson and his twin Margie Wilkins, all of Winchester.
Mark was blessed with many loving family members and friends who stood by him during his courageous fight with cancer. Mark’s spirit through his 4 month battle was an inspiration to all who knew him. Mark enjoyed his life on the farm. His grandsons were the light of his life and they were never far behind him while tending to the cattle or riding on the tractor. He loved watching and cheering on Adam and Ryan while they played hockey and he enjoyed going to the Washington Capitals games with them. He will be missed by all of his family and friends, but we all know that his suffering is over and he is with his Lord and Savior.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Palmer, Mike Palmer, Stephen Palmer, Kevin Johnson, Richard Clark, Hans Holthaus, Gene Johnson and Jim McFarland . Honorary pallbearers will be David Wilkins, Sr., Eugene Lee, Josh Edmonson, David Wilkins, Jr., Daniel Wilkins and Dennis Markley.
A celebration of Mr. Edmonson’s life will be Monday, September 20, 2010 at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel at 11:00 am with the Rev. Donnie Stotler and Mark’s brother-in-law, Gary Palmer officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, September 19th from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. Entombment will be at Shenandoah Memorial Park. A fellowship meal will follow the funeral service at Gainesboro Firehall.
