Marjorie Marie (Lobdell) Niemeier, 90, of Frederick County, Virginia passed away on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at Winchester Medical Center.
Marjorie was born on November 14, 1926 in Lena, Illinois, the daughter of the late Lester and Etta (Miller) Lobdell. She attended Albie School, a one room country school for 8 years and graduated from Lena Community High School, Class of 1944. Marjorie was employed at W.T. Rawleigh Medicine Company in Freeport, Illinois from 1944 until 1946. Afterwards, she and her late husband, Robert, operated a cheese factory in Freeport, Illinois for 17 years. In 1963 the family moved to Smicksburg, Pennsylvania where they continued working in the cheese business until their retirement in 1988, after which time they moved to Dayton, Pennsylvania. Marjorie and Robert shared a love for traveling, which included trips to Europe, South America, and several enjoyable cruises. In their later years they would spend their winters in Naples, Florida. Marjorie enjoyed cooking, baking, and family get-togethers and was a member of Lion Lutheran Church in Trade City, Pennsylvania, which she loved very much.
Her husband, Robert E. Niemeier, whom she married on September 15, 1946 in Warren, Illinois preceded her in death on November 22, 2005.
Surviving are sons, Dennis Niemeier (Paula) of Winchester, Virginia, Larry Niemeier (Debra) of Jarvisburg, North Carolina and Gary Niemeier (Maxine) of Port Orange, Florida; daughter, Diane Conrad (Bill) of Marienville, Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Justin Niemeier of Winchester, Virginia, Bonnie Miller of Elizabeth City, North Carolina, Carry McMillen of Grady, North Carolina, William Conrad of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Alyssa Oliver of Marienville, Pennsylvania, Colby Niemeier of Houston, Texas and Robert Niemeier, II who is in the United States Army; and six great grandchildren.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Robert and a brother, Paul Lobdell.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 10 am to 11 am at Mount Zion Lutheran Church, Trade City, Pennsylvania with a funeral service to follow at 11 am with Pastor Arkie Taylor officiating. Interment will be at 1 pm on Tuesday at Lena Burial Park, Lena, Illinois.
The family would like to express a sincere thank-you to all of the doctors and nurses at Winchester Medical Center for the love, care and attention that was given to them and to Marjorie.
Memorial contributions in memory of Marjorie may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
