Marika “Maria” B. Evans, 85, of Ashburn, Virginia, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2026, at Hilltop Senior Living in Winchester, Virginia.

Maria was born on April 7, 1941, in Ukraine, and later became a proud citizen of the United States. She dedicated much of her professional life to the United States Department of Agriculture, where she worked as a secretary until her retirement.

Maria was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great source of love and strength to her family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert O. Evans, who passed away on November 12, 2017. The two were married on October 5, 1963, in Hollywood, California, and shared many years together.

She is survived by her daughter, Karen Evans and her husband, Alexander T. Gregory; her cherished grandsons, Robert Evans Gregory, and Alexander T. Gregory Jr.; and her sister, Irka. She was also preceded in death by her siblings Lubi and Ola.

Maria will be remembered for her quiet strength, dedication to her family, and the care she showed throughout her life. Her memory will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Services will be private.

I worked with Marina at USDA for many years. She was always helpful and had a ready smile for everyone. I enjoyed talking with her and learning of her journey. I am glad I had the privilege of knowing her and I send my deepest condolences to her cherished family.
