Marie Virginia Jacobs, 83, of Winchester, Virginia, passed away, Thursday, November 12, 2009, at a local assistant living facility.
Mrs. Jacobs was born in 1926 in Richmond, Virginia, the daughter of the late Floyd E. and Anne L. Perkinson. She was an independent woman, who loved her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, family and friends. She enjoyed her neighbors and never knew a stranger. In her time, she loved canning, hiking outdoors, gardening and creating floral arrangements.
Her husband, George Lester Jacobs, whom she married on November 4, 1944 in Colmar Manor, Maryland, preceded her in death on February 12, 2008.
Surviving is a daughter, Sandra D. Gipe and her husband, Robert of Stewartstown, Pennsylvania; four sons, James H. Jacobs and his wife, Martha of Bowie, Maryland, Robert L. Jacobs and his wife, Bonnie of Berryville, Virginia, John E. Jacobs and his wife, Peggy of Ponca City, Oklahoma, and Richard G. Jacobs and his wife, Cindy of Queenstown, Maryland; eleven grandchildren, James, Matthew, Robert, Jill, Chad, Melissa, Katie, Michael, Brennan, Jeffrey and Alyssa; and nine great grandchildren, Ella, Taylor, Ashley, Mary, Molly, Julian, Luella, Jaiden and Zoe. She is preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Hyatt; and three brothers, Sonny, Thomas and Melvin Perkinson.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel. Entombment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park Mausoleum.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 12:00 until 1:00 P.M. at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.
