Marie Snyder Funk, 86, of Frederick County, Virginia passed away Monday, May 7, 2018, at Winchester Medical Center.
Mrs. Funk was born in 1931 in Albin, Virginia, the daughter of the late Pete and Anna Snyder. She retired from National Fruit Products Company after 30 years of service. Mrs. Funk was a member of United Steel Workers Union, where she was the recording secretary, and a member of Winchester Moose. She enjoyed beading, especially making necklaces; going to yard sales and bazaars, and loved to work in her garden. Mrs. Funk enjoyed cooking and baking, which she shared her homemade goods with those she loved. She was a member of Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Her husband, Walter Milton Funk, whom she married on April 21, 1951 in Albin, Virginia, preceded her in death.
Surviving are nieces, Judith A. Miller, Suzanne G. Abe, and Shirley S. Ricketts; grandchildren, Ashley N. and Hillary R. Miller and David S. Abe; great grandson, Michael W. Miller; sister, Lillian I. Boone; and many loving extended family, as well as her entire church family.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by sisters, Louise F. Snyder and Evelyn E. Abe; and brother, Charles I. Snyder.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 10 am to 11 am on Friday at Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2077 N. Frederick Pike, Winchester, Virginia with a funeral service to follow at 11 am with Reverend David Young officiating. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park, Winchester, Virginia.
