Maria Hilda Ruf Ward, of Stephens City, Virginia died Saturday, January 19, 2013 at her home.

Mrs. Ward was born in 1938 in Germany, the daughter of the late Albert and Elsa Ruf. She was a homemaker, and a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Her husband, William Arthur Ward whom she married on June 14, 1956 in Heidelberg, Germany, preceded her in death on February 17, 2008.

Surviving are two children, Selena Maria Ward Hallman and husband Jonathan “Ben”, of Stephens City, and Stephen Ward also of Stephens City; five grandchildren, Jaclyn Hallman, Devin Hallman Boyd and husband, Michael, Mollee Hallman, Allison Ward and Addison Ward; two great grandchildren, Jayelan Boyd and Cael Boyd; two sisters, Else Bross of Germany, and Wilma Cortner of Stephens City, and two brothers, Werner Ruf and Hansi Ruf, both of Germany.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Wednesday at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel with Pastor James Boyette officiating. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM, one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 West Cork Street, Suite 405, Winchester, VA 22601 or the American Cancer Society, 2654 Valley Ave., Suite B, Winchester, VA 22601.
