Margery Annetta Barrett

Margery Annetta Barrett, 85, of Strasburg, VA, died Saturday, January 24, 2015 at her residence of unexpected complications from cancer.

Mrs. Barrett was born in 1929 in Negaunee, MI, the daughter of the late Lester F. and Rebecca Smith.  She worked for the U.S. Government as a secretary in the Office of the Secretary of Defense.  Mrs. Barrett was a member of the Shenandoah Valley Chorus Chapter of the Sweet Adeline’s.

Mrs. Barrett married Paul Harry Barrett, Jr. on October 2, 1948 at Bolling Air Force Base, Washington, D.C.

Surviving with her husband is son, Paul H. Barrett, III (Glenda A.), University Park, MD; daughter, Deborah Young (Richard), South Riding, VA; brothers, Frank Smith, Mesa, AZ; Bob Smith, Flint, MI and; grandchildren, Sandi M. Voskian, Jennifer B. Hyde, Paul H. Barrett, IV; great grandchildren, Michael Voskian, Jordan Hyde, Courtney Hyde, Carter Barrett, and Corrine Barrett.

Mrs. Barrett was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Fisher.

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 30, 2015 from 6-8 p.m. at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, 1600 Amherst St., Winchester, VA 22601.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday with Celebrant Joseph Dilleree officiating.  Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery.
