Margarette Cash Wooddell Campbell
Margarette Campbell, 96, of Winchester, Virginia, died Saturday, September 24, 2016, at Lynn Care Center.
She previously resided with her daughter Irene Sonner in Shawneeland.
Mrs. Campbell was born in 1920, in Timber Ridge, VA, the daughter of the late William D. and Mary E. Cash. Margarette was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to so many. She can be forever remembered for her love of family, cooking, gardening, her love of flowers, fishing and even Monday night wrestling. She was also an accomplished seamstress making many custom items for family and friends over the years. She was a one of kind and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Margarette married Hoyt S. Wooddell on July 4, 1942 in Lexington, Virginia. He preceded her in death in 1968. She later married Marvin L. Campbell on December 23, 1972 in Winchester, Virginia and preceded her in death in 2010.
Mrs. Campbell is survived by her two daughters, Elsie M. Clegg, of Front Royal, VA and Elizabeth I. Sonner, of Winchester, VA; son, Hoyt S. Wooddell, Jr., of Front Royal, VA; three step-daughters, Rebecca Cather and her husband Thomas of Berryville, VA, Kay Winnings and her husband Len of Winchester, VA and Donette Porter and her husband Randall of Montrose, VA; six grandchildren, Mike and Wade Wooddell, Ronnie Lynn Clegg , Shelly Waters, Tina Marie Ruckman, and Billy Sonner Jr.; eight great-grandchildren; and seven great great-grandchildren; one sister Edith Smith of Lexington, VA, as well as many extended family members and close friends.
Margarette was one of 16 children and was preceded in death by 14 brothers and sisters as well as two son-in laws, Billy Sonner, Sr. and Ronnie Clegg and a daughter-in-law, Donna Jean Wooddell.
The Wooddell-Campbell family wishes to offer their most sincere appreciation and gratitude to all the staff at Lynn Care Center for all of the exceptional care and comfort of Margarette.
A funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, at 11:00 am at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with Pastor Burl Charlton officiating. A reception will follow at Omps Funeral Home, Reception Center. Private entombment will take place at Shenandoah Memorial Park Mausoleum.
