Margaret Triplett Clowser, 92, of Winchester, Virginia, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2026. She was born on February 12, 1934, in Gore, Virginia, the daughter of Charles Matelin Triplett and Beaulah Elton Whitacre Triplett.
Margaret was a proud graduate of James Wood High School, Class of 1953, and looked forward to attending the class reunions to catch up with classmates. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Margaret centered her life around her family, her home, and her faith and was a member of Ebenezer Christian Church in Gore, Virginia. Margaret was a dedicated homemaker whose hands were rarely still. She loved to bake, sew, and embroider, and she especially enjoyed attending country music shows at local fairs. Margaret delighted in discovering new cake recipes and testing them on her family, who happily served as her panel of judges, deciding whether each one was a “keeper.” Margaret was known affectionately as “Aunt Mert” by her family, and “Turkey” by her great-nephews. Margaret also enjoyed doing farm work and took great pride in driving the tractor to bale hay. She often said, “If I can get it started, I can drive it,” a motto that perfectly captured her determination, independence, and grit.
On December 14, 1956, she married Lawrence Elwood Clowser, with whom she shared 67 years of marriage until his passing on August 14, 2024.
Margaret is survived by her daughters Darlene Marie Clowser and Angela Clowser Watts (Michael), both of Winchester, VA, and Carol Leigh Pack (Kenneth) of Martinsburg, WV. She was blessed with three grandchildren who brought her endless joy: Zane Michael Watts (Lia) of Winchester, VA, Bailey Annmarie Pack, and Hayden Lee Pack, both of Martinsburg, WV. She is also survived by her siblings Mary Casilear (William), Dorothy Clowser, Charles Triplett, and Juanita McLaughlin (James), along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who adored her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, sister Evelyn Nasser, and her brothers-in-law James Clowser and Michael Nasser.
Her life was defined by love, humor, creativity, and a deep devotion to the people she cherished. Her legacy will live on, in the hearts of all who knew her.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, from 6pm to 8pm with a service to be conducted the following day, Thursday, April 30, 2026, at 11am all held at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park.
