Margaret Swisher Clowser, 88, passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2024, at Winchester Medical Center.
Margaret was born on September 11, 1935, in Winchester, VA, the daughter of the late Vestal T. Swisher and Mary L. Swisher.
She married Elmer “Dody” Clowser May 17, 1954, in Winchester, VA. He preceded her in death, September 1991.
She is survived by her two children, Cindy C. Nail, and her husband (Edward) of Winchester VA, and David L. Clowser and his wife (Teresa) of Winchester. Her pride and joy were her two grandchildren, Kimberly D. Nail of Durham, NC, and Justin L. Clowser of Winchester, VA and sister, Ruth Wenger of Akron, PA
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Cledith Swisher, Cecil Swisher and sisters, Rebecca VanMeter, and Marie Shifflet.
She was a graduate of James Wood High School, Class of 1953. She worked at Pine Motor Company in her early years and then became a wife, and mother to become a homemaker for her family.
Later on in years, she worked at Custer Chiropractic as their Office Manager. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. Margaret lived life to the fullest and was always ready to assist anyone she could. She had no regrets in life. She was fortunate to travel to multiple countries, along with seeing much of the US with her fondest memories of sailing the open seas on cruises. Visiting the Holy Land was her favorite destination that she had been to. She taught Sunday school at various churches throughout her life and enjoyed bowling. She was a picture-perfect daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother to us all. Although we weren’t ready for her to leave, her older years slowed her down and she was ready to be called home. You will be missed, but not forgotten. You created the loving memories we shall cherish forever.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at 10am with a service to be conducted at 11am all held at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, with Pastor Steve Rebert officiating. Interment will follow the service in Shenandoah Memorial Park.
