Margaret Lee McClanahan (Skyles), 80, of Winchester, Virginia concluded her earthly journey on July 22,2026, at home surrounded by her family. She was born on February 17, 1946, in Winchester to Edward and Elaine Skyles.
Margaret was the owner of A Nail Affair, Inc. in Winchester for twenty plus years. She loved her clientele and many became lifelong friends. Margaret also spent numerous years volunteering with the Girl Scouts of America and the Laurel Center. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Winchester and enjoyed singing with the Singing Seniors choir. She looked forward to the excursions of the Ageless Adventurers as well.
Margaret was passionate about Native American culture; she loved Elvis and miniature schnauzers. She enjoyed traveling, especially to the beach, bowling, reading, watching old westerns, playing cards with her family and was fearless when it came to trying new hairstyles or picking out new tattoos.
Margaret is survived by her husband of 61 years, Lowell McClanahan, daughters Julie McClanahan (Paul Neustedter) and April Walter, as well as her grandchildren, Jordan and Alexis Walter and Kino and Kobi Neustedter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Elaine Skyles, as well as her brothers, James and Larry Skyles.
A visitation will be held on Friday, August 7, 2026, at 12pm with a service to be conducted at 1pm at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. Rev. Dr. Kristin Adkins Whitesides will officiate. Inurnment will be private in Mount Hebron Cemetery.
