Margaret Lee Cochran Holliday
Margaret Cochran Holliday, 93, of Shenandoah Valley Westminster-Canterbury, formerly of 1616 Van Couver Street, Winchester, Virginia, died Sunday, March 10, 2013, in Westminster-Canterbury.
Mrs. Holliday was born May 5, 1919 in Frederick County, the daughter of the late Walter Smith Cochran and Gertie McFarland Cochran. Her husband, Herbert C. Holliday, whom she married in 1941, died in 1998.
Mrs. Holliday was a 1938 graduate of John Handley High School, Winchester, Virginia and a life-long member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church. She worked as the bookkeeper for Rosenberger Lumber Company, secretary to Harry Flood Byrd, Jr., and office manager at Standard Oil Company. She enjoyed reading, especially historical works, an interest which led her to years of volunteer service in the Handley Library archives. She was also a member of the Winchester Historical Society.
Survivors include a niece, Carol Cochran Prodan and husband, Jim, of Bear, DE; and two nephews, Keith H. Cochran of Bloomington, IN and Mark C. Cochran and wife, Janet, of Springfield, VA. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Holliday was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Letzkus and Ruth Turner, and three brothers, Raymond, Clinton, and Charles Cochran.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday March 14, 2013 in Mount Hebron Cemetery with the Reverend Dr. James H. Utt and Reverend Martha Miller Sims officiating. A reception will be held at Westminster-Canterbury immediately following the interment.

The family is extremely grateful for the outstanding quality of care provided by Dr. William C. Brink; all the nurses and caregivers of Westminster-Canterbury; and long-time companions, Margie Nates and Frances Owens.
