She is survived by a brother, Edward Irish Lupton of Poway, CA, and a sister, Mary Jean Lupton Speidel of Greensboro, NC. Two brothers, James Roberts Lupton, Jr., and Alfred Roberts Lupton preceded her in death. Two daughters, Susan Lynn Lancaster and Tamara Jean Lancaster, also preceded her in death. Many nieces and nephews cherish their memories of “Aunt Marg.” Many local Luptons will miss their cousin “Margie.”
Margaret spent her early childhood on the family farm near Clear Brook, VA. She graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School in Washington, DC in 1947 and from Wilson Teacher’s College in 1952. She taught school in Virginia and California. After 20 years as a patent researcher in Arlington, Margaret retired in 1995, moved to Winchester and returned to her Quaker roots. A Hollingsworth descendant, she was very interested in family history. She worked as a docent at Abrams Delight for many years.
Margaret loved music and sang with the Sweet Adelines in Winchester. In retirement, she took up quilting, and friends and family enjoy having pieces of her beautiful handiwork.
