Margaret Jean Hinkle, 83, of Winchester, VA, passed away October 26, 2021 at the Winchester Medical Center.  She was born March 29, 1938 in Tazwell, VA the daughter of the late Henry and Audrey (Gilley) Mabe.

Margaret loved all animals and also enjoyed crafting, quilting and sewing. She also enjoyed music and theatre.

She married John William Hinkle on July 23, 1964 in Boonsboro MD, he preceded her in death on March 19, 2010.

In addition to her parents and husband, Margaret was also preceded in death by her sister Wanda Mabe and two brothers Jackie and Robert Mabe.

She is survived by her four children Jean D. Carlock (Robert), Danny P. Smith (Jane), Cynthia H. Longerbeam and Pamela S. Foley (Mark); grandchildren Jeanne Graber, Adel Pappas, Stacey Carlock, Gary Helsley, Chance Hinkle, Danny Smith, Stephanie Langhorne, Marina Sowder, Grace Foley and Paige Foley; seven great grandchildren; two sisters Corliss Simpson and Janice Allison; two brothers Jimmy and Leo Mabe; and also survived by her many nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions in memory of Margaret may be sent to any local animal shelter of the donor’s choice.

All services will be private.
