Margaret Ellen West, 69, of Frederick County, Virginia, died Tuesday, November 3, 2009, in her home.
Mrs. West was born in 1940, in Winchester, Virginia, the daughter of the late Charles and Georgianna Alger. She was a homemaker and a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. Mrs. West was a Lifetime member of the Winchester Horseshoe Pitching Association. She was a former member of the Winchester Moose Lodge #1283, Winchester Eagles Aerie 824 and volunteered for the American Lung Association and the American Heart Association.
She married Charles Butler West on June 4, 1960, in Winchester, Virginia.
Surviving with her husband of forty-nine years are her children, Mark C. West of Berkeley Springs, West Virginia; Matthew T. West of Bloomery, West Virginia, Kelly A. Glover of Hayfield, Virginia, Mitchell S. West of Cross Junction, Virginia; eight grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Davis of Hagerstown, Maryland, Patricia Prokopovitch of Winchester, Virginia; and four brothers, James Alger of Mt. Falls, Virginia, Joseph Alger and Phillip Alger both of Winchester, and David Alger of Knoxville, Tennessee.
Her son, Michael S. West, three sisters and thee brothers preceded her in death.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Friday at Hayfield Assembly of God, Frederick County, Virginia, with Pastor Bobby Basham officiating. Interment will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery, Winchester, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Mrs. West grandchildren, Jamison C. West, Daniel P. West, Gregory L. Funk, Michael C. West, Jonathan L. Glover, Benjamin C. Glover, Mitchell S. West, Jr., Sarah E. West and Holly K. West.
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening, from 6:00-8:00 PM, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
