Marcia Maria Bergey Baylis, 70, of Winchester, Virginia, died Tuesday, March 1, 2016, at Winchester Medical Center.
Mrs. Baylis was born in 1945, in Woodstock, Virginia, the daughter of the late Marvel and Robert H. Bergey. She was a 1964 graduate of Strasburg High School where she was a cheerleader and homecoming queen. Marcia was passionate about pageantry and was named Ms. Shenandoah County Fair in 1965. After graduation, she attended Marion College in Marion, Virginia. She was later employed in various medical practices in Winchester.
Marcia was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was an outgoing individual who can be forever remembered for her love of faith, family, friends and who never met a stranger. She was passionate about interior design, shopping, dining with friends, love of nature and the outdoors. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She married Edward Lee Baylis on November 25, 1983, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Strasburg by Pastor William Hall.
Surviving with her husband is her daughter, Sophia Stout and her husband, Tony, of Columbus, Ohio; step-daughters, Lisa Beach and her husband, Ray, of Pooler, Georgia; Vicki Buswell of Augusta, West Virginia; 4 grandchildren; Hunter W. Stout, Heather M. Stout, Hannah A. Stout and Jonathan E. Buswell; her sister, Beverly Bergey Boyer and her husband, Jack, of Strasburg; her brothers, Robert U. Bergey and his wife, Claudette, of Waynesboro, Virginia and Roger H. Bergey and his wife, Pamela of Harrisonburg, Virginia as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
Marcia was preceded in death by two brothers, Mervin Ard and John Peter Bergey.
A memorial service will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Saturday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Strasburg, Virginia with Pastor Bill Nabers and Pastor William Hall officiating. Interment will be private.
