Heartfelt condolences to all of the Semples family. A great friend of our community has left. His always gracious and uplifting presence will be missed. Manuel befriended Fran and me in many ways: conversation at the restaurant, bird hunting talk, relic hunting, especially optimistic prospects for our community and many others. Our hearts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. Fran and George White

Our condolences to the Sempeles family. I worked with Manual several years at the restaurant, and my son Rick worked there 3 summers when he was in high school. Manual was a great boss to work with and a close friend. He will be missed; Rest in Peace Mr. Sempeles.
Kimberly Kerns Wines, Front Royal, VA left a message on May 19, 2015:
I am so sorry to hear of Mr. Sempeles passing. I had the pleasure to hear of so many wonderful stories of this great man. My father shared many of them with us over the years of times gone by. They played high school football together on opposite teams, but my father mentioned of his talent often. They also served in Korea together, and shared those memories over the years. It is with much sadness, thoughts, and prayers that I extend to each of the family members during this truly sad time.
Peace of mind is a call away. We're here when you need us most.

So sorry to hear of Manuel,s passing. The two of us spent many happy days searching the woods and fields, and I might add exciting, for civil war artifacts. He taught me so much about the items we discovered. I envied his knowledge of the subject, and I might add his collection. He was a true friend. He will be missed.

Harold E. Wingert left a message on June 3, 2015:
I was shocked to get Manuel's obit in the Winchester Star from a Handley classmate. Lackey and I were in the Handley class of '45 and my father A. K. Wingert delivered beer to your restaurant over the years. So Manuel and I were at dear old Handley at the same time. My condolences to all your family.
