Manuel C. DeHaven
Manuel Clayton DeHaven, 94, of Clearbrook, VA, died Thursday, May 27, 2010 at his home.
Mr. DeHaven was born in 1916 in Middleway, WV, the son of the late Gilbert and Eva DeHaven. He was owner/operator of Oak Grove Restaurant and Oak Grove Plumbing and Heating. He sat on the Frederick County Planning Commission and was a lifetime member of the Clearbrook Ruritan Club. He was a businessman, land developer, entrepreneur, philanthropist and a veteran of the United States Army.
He married Pearl Adelaide Miller DeHaven in October, 1944. Mrs. DeHaven preceded him in death on July 5, 2005.
Surviving are three daughters, Cheryl Lynn Johnson of Winchester, VA, Pamela Lee Tubandt of Clearbrook, VA and Rhonda Coe Lynch of Glengary, WV; eight grandchildren, Chesie Breen of East Hampton, NY, Katherine Hortenstine of Alexandria, VA, Mary Marron of Dallas, TX, Stuart Michael Perry, III of Clearbrook, VA, Clayton William Perry of Winchester, Samuel Edward Simpson, VI of Glengary, WV, Manuel Alides Simpson of Middleburg, VA and Haven Adelaide Lamp of Clearbrook, VA, and twelve great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers.
A funeral service will be conducted on Monday at 10:00 AM at Rest United Methodist Church in Clearbrook with Reverend Charles W. Townsend and Reverend James Dokes officiating. Interment will be in Rest Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Stuart Perry, Clay Perry, Samuel Simpson, Manuel Simpson, Taylor Perry, Justin Simpson, Stephen Johnson, and Dale Parsons. Honorary pallbearers will be Damon DeHaven and Ronnie DeHaven.
The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 7:00 – 9:00 PM at Rest United Methodist Church.
