Major Glen Edwin Michael, USA-Ret., 90, of Frederick County, Virginia passed away Monday, February 18, 2019, at the VA Medical Center in Martinsburg, West Virginia.
Mr. Michael was born in 1928 in Augusta, West Virginia, the son of the late Perry Lee and Margaret Baldwin Michael. He attended Romney High School and was a retired Major from the Adjutant General’s Corps, United States Army. Mr. Michael served his country proudly during the Korean and Vietnam conflicts from 1948-1969. He was a lifetime member of American Legion Post #134, Kirby, West Virginia; Disabled American Veterans, Post 9, Winchester, Virginia; and Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 1101, (Wappacoma), Romney, West Virginia. Mr. Michael was a member of Augusta Church of Christ and Rosedale Baptist Church.
He married Lorena Russell on August 4, 1998 in Winchester, Virginia. His first wife, Martha Wolfe Michael, preceded him in death in 1987.
Surviving is a son, James Daniel Michael and wife, Kathy of Winchester, Virginia; nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren (with one on the way); and many great, great grandchildren.
Along with his parents and first wife, Martha, Mr. Michael was preceded in death by sons, Clyde Perry Michael and Eldred Maxwell Michael; sisters, Anna Lou Schemm, Patricia Sue Kidwell, and Sandra Louise Saville; and brothers, Eugene William Michael, James Leonadis Michael, and Andrew H. Michael.
A memorial service will be at 2 pm on Friday, March 15th, at Lighthouse Baptist Church, 2581 Northwestern Pike, Winchester, Virginia with Reverend Lynn Durbin officiating. Interment will be private in Winchester National Cemetery, Winchester, Virginia.
