Bobbi Jackson
Mae Roberta Fogo Jackson, age 67, of Winchester, Virginia, died Sunday, May 2, 2010, in her home.
Bobbi was born in 1942, in Boston, MA, the daughter of the late Robert and Mary H. Fogo. Graduating from Northeastern University in 1964 she taught second grade in Quincy, MA. She was a member of Braddock Street United Methodist Church, teaching preschool there from 1992-2003. She also served as chair of the council on ministries and secretary to the building committee for the new education building. She taught preschool in three other schools, in PA and IA.
She was secretary to the Fremont Street Nursery Board, member and past president of the Glen Burnie Garden Club of Winchester, member and past president of Band Parents of Handley High School Marching Band, Worthy Advisor to Rainbow Girls in Quincy, MA, member of the Preservation of Historic Winchester where she helped with the Christmas Tour of Homes, a member of the Prime Timers, and Red Hats Sassy Ladies.
Spending her childhood in Quincy, MA and summers on Duxbury Beach she acquired her mother’s seamstress skills, sewing her own wedding gown and bridesmaid dresses as she married Bruce Ward Jackson on February 15, 1964, in Quincy, MA. Many of the banners in BSUMC are ‘by Bobbi’.
Surviving in addition to her husband, are three sons, Glenn Bruce Jackson and his wife, Lisa Dawn May, of Takoma Park, MD, Todd Robert Jackson and his wife, Courtney Cherewich Jackson, of Newton, MA, and Scott William Jackson of Takoma Park, MD; and four grandchildren, Ian, Thomas, Ben, and Nora.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am on Thursday at Braddock Street United Methodist Church, with the Reverend Dr. James A Hewitt II and Reverend Sarah Pugh officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm on Wednesday evening at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
