Lucy Catherine Shubert DeHaven, 56, of Frederick County, Virginia, passed away on Sunday, May 7, 2017, at Sentara Medical Center in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
Mrs. DeHaven was born in 1960, in Romney, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Edith and Cliff Shubert. Lucy was a loving wife, mother grandmother, great grandmother and friend to all who knew her. She will be remembered for her love family, flowers and her one of a kind smile and sense of humor. One of her greatest joys in life was reading, she was known for the books in the thousands that she has read over the years.
Mrs. DeHaven married Johnny Walter DeHaven on May 29, 1987, in Winchester, Virginia.
Surviving with her husband is her daughter, Katie Sullivan and husband, Tim, of Inwood, West Virginia, 9 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; sister, Linda Kesner and husband, Curt, of Rig, West Virginia; and brother, Steve Shubert of Winchester, Virginia, as well as many extended family members and close friends.
She is preceded in death by two sons, Joshua Shubert and Mitchell Johnny DeHaven and her brother, Frankie Shubert.
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening, from 6:00-8:00 PM, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Friday, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with Pastor Alan Morrison officiating. Interment will follow in Little Mountain Cemetery, Frederick County, Virginia.
Serving as pallbearers will be David DeHaven, Damion DeHaven, Ricky DeHaven, Raymond Shearer, III, Brandon Benegar, and Chris Kesner.
Memorial contributions in memory of Lucy may be made to the Winchester SPCA, 115 Featherbed Lane, Winchester, Virginia, 22601 or a charity of the donor’s choice.
