“Skeeter”
Lucas Stanley Parrill, “Skeeter”, 56, of Winchester, Virginia died Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at the VA Medical Center in Martinsburg, West Virginia.
Skeeter was born in 1960 in Washington, D.C., the son of James W. Parrill of Stephens City, Virginia and the late Catherine L. Perry; stepson of the late William Perry. He was a veteran having served in the United States Navy during the Gulf War and in Beirut, achieving the rank of E6. After 15 years of active service, Lucas became a disabled veteran with an honorable discharge. Skeeter was an over-the-road truck driver and was a member of Trucker Buddy International. Lucas was of the Baptist faith. He was part of the Trucker Buddy Program and was very proud of his service to his country. Lucas wasn’t much of a football fan, but his and his wife’s Super Bowl was the annual Army/Navy game.
Skeeter loved being with his family at cookouts where they played volleyball, badminton, and dodge ball. Some of his favorites were the band Alabama, TV show JAG, and movies Top Gun and Smokey and the Bandit. He enjoyed being outdoors and was a very good marksman.
Skeeter married Martha Anne Powers on August 24, 1991 in Deal, Maryland.
Surviving in addition to his father and wife are: his daughters, Katrina Pescara (William) of Keystone Heights, Florida, Karen Wiggins (William) of Vero Beach, FL, and Sarah Norman (Roy) of Niagara, Wisconsin; his son, Daniel Campbell of Centralia, Washington; eight grandchildren, Piper Grace Pescara, Madison “Puddin” Jordan Hitt, John Campbell, Theresa Norman, Parker Gage Pescara, Katara Campbell, Beatriz Newo Wiggins, and Syrus Armory Wiggins; two sisters, Mona Lee White-Olah (Stephen) of Brighton, Colorado and Deborah Parrill of Stephens City, Virginia; four brothers, Montgomery “Monty” White of Brighton, Colorado, David Parrill of Florida, Charles Parrill (Ed) of Martinsburg, West Virginia, and Jerry Parrill of Winchester, Virginia; his beloved German Shepherd, Dixie Thunder; his two previous wives, Kathleen Marie (Porter) Lumpkins and Laura Blum Marutz; numerous nieces and nephews; and his paternal grandmother, Hilda Virginia Parrill, 96 years old.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel, 1260 Front Royal Pike, Winchester, Virginia.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 1:00 pm at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel, 1260 Front Royal Pike, Winchester, Virginia with Dr. Kenneth H. Smith, Sr. officiating.
Interment with military honors will follow at Shenandoah Memorial Park.
Serving as pallbearers will be Ryan Matthew Servo, Karen Wiggins, Charles Randall, Scott Snyder, Chris Snyder, and Walter Hammond.
