Louis Randolph Bell, Jr., 76, of Frederick County, Virginia, died Wednesday, September 17, 2014, in Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Bell was born in 1937, in Clarke County, Virginia, the son of the late Louis R., Sr. and Arinthia M. Bell. He was a graduate of Clarke County High School, Class of 1958. Mr. Bell was a veteran having served in the United States Army, Military Police, post-World War II, achieving the rank of PFC. He was awarded the Good Conduct, Marksman and Sharpshooter Medals. Mr. Bell was a retired Master Folder/Binder with Winchester Printers serving for 46 years. He was a member of the Izaak Walton League from 1983 to present and a member of VFW Post 2123. Mr. Bell was an avid coin collector, enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and NASCAR, and he loved his beagle, Emma.
He married Ruth McFillen on November 17, 1961, in Hagerstown, Maryland. She preceded him in death on November 25, 2007.
Surviving is his daughter, Ann Hartley and husband, Jeff, of Middletown, Virginia; son, Larry R. Bell and wife, Susie, of Winchester; grandchildren, Matthew Hartley, Joshua Hartley, Kelly Moore, Tim Roberts; great grandchildren, Cullen and Lily; brothers, Robert Bell of Berryville, and Russell Bell of Kearneysville, West Virginia.
One grandson, Travis Moore, a great grandson, Jeb Roberts and three brothers, John, Gordon and Billy Bell preceded him in death.
The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 PM on Monday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with Pastor Tim McManigle officiating. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park, Frederick County, Virginia.
Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Boden, Rick Nesselrodt, Danny Denson, Tim Roberts, Gary “Gig” Anderson and Greg Bond. Honorary pallbearers will be Dann Dillon, Glen Richman, Ted Neff, Paul Kelchner, Floyd Hartley and Jack Black.
