Louis E. Shifflett
Louis Elmer Shifflett, 79, of Stephens City, Virginia, died Sunday, June 20, 2010, in Blue Ridge Hospice, Winchester, Virginia.
Mr. Shifflett was born in 1931, in Greene County, Virginia, the son of the late George B. and Maggie Shifflett. He was a truck driver having worked for Novicks and Hemmingway, retiring from Richs Trucking. He was a member of Teamsters Local 83, in Winchester, Virginia. In addition he was a member of the Church of Christ at Mt. View and VFW Post #2123. Mr. Shifflett was a Veteran having served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
He married Shelvey Riggleman on July 13, 1963, in Winchester, Virignia.
Surviving with his wife are his daughters, Bobbi Bohlmann and husband, Donald, of Front Royal, Virginia, Billie Baggarly and husband, Philip, of Stephens City, Virginia, Maneika Walker and husband, Michael, of Gerrardstown, West Virginia; granddaughter, Whitney Wisecarver and husband, Ross, of Winchester, Virginia; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; sisters, Elizabeth Wodarczyk, Jean Menefee, Judy West and his brother, Buster Shifflett.
One son, Rodney Shifflett, a sister, Kathleen Beatty and brother, Jack Shifflett preceded him in death.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, with Reverend Doug Hardman officiating. Interment will be in Panorama Memorial Gardens. Military honors will be accorded by VFW Post #2123, Winchester, Virginia.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening, from 6:00-8:00 PM, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
