Louberta T. Weatherton Demorest, 84, of Clearbrook, Virginia, passed away peacefully at her residence on April 16, 2026. Born on September 8, 1941, in Bristol, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Eugene Beidleman Jr. and Vallie Mae (Glispie) Beidleman.
Louberta was a graduate of Slater High School and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree from East Tennessee State University. She dedicated 36 years of her life to shaping young minds as an elementary school teacher with the Winchester Public School System. Louberta taught at Virginia Avenue Elementary School and Frederick Douglass Elementary School, where she was deeply devoted to her students, who meant everything to her. Her impact as an educator extended far beyond the classroom, leaving a lasting legacy in the lives of countless children and families.
A woman of remarkable talent, Louberta was a classically trained soprano who shared her gift of music throughout the community. She sang with the choral group “The Winchester Musical Viva” and performed at numerous supper clubs and weddings. Her voice brought joy and beauty to many, and her passion for music was evident in every performance.
Louberta was a woman of faith and embraced the Baptist tradition. She lived a life marked by compassion, dedication, and a deep love for her family and community.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Weatherton (1993), and her second husband, Richard “Dick” Demorest (2010), as well as her parents.
She is lovingly remembered by her sons, Robert B. Weatherton III (Cheryl) and Michael E. Weatherton (Renee); her grandchildren, Ashley Renee Wells (Anthony), Derek Michael Weatherton, and Robert B. Weatherton IV (Christina); and her great-grandchildren, Avery Wells and Peyton Weatherton. She is also survived by her sisters, Veronica Smith, and Judy Vance (Elton), and her brother, Arthur “Pepper” Eugene Beidleman III., along with many cherished nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
A service to celebrate Louberta’s life will be held at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel on Friday, May 1, 2026, at 11am, officiated by Rev. Floyd Coates. A reception will follow at the Omps Reception Center. Interment will be private.

Louberta will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for her kindness, her beautiful voice, and the love she gave so freely to all who knew her.
