Louberta T. Weatherton Demorest, 84, of Clearbrook, Virginia, passed away peacefully at her residence on April 16, 2026. Born on September 8, 1941, in Bristol, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Eugene Beidleman Jr. and Vallie Mae (Glispie) Beidleman.

Louberta was a graduate of Slater High School and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree from East Tennessee State University. She dedicated 36 years of her life to shaping young minds as an elementary school teacher with the Winchester Public School System. Louberta taught at Virginia Avenue Elementary School and Frederick Douglass Elementary School, where she was deeply devoted to her students, who meant everything to her. Her impact as an educator extended far beyond the classroom, leaving a lasting legacy in the lives of countless children and families.

A woman of remarkable talent, Louberta was a classically trained soprano who shared her gift of music throughout the community. She sang with the choral group “The Winchester Musical Viva” and performed at numerous supper clubs and weddings. Her voice brought joy and beauty to many, and her passion for music was evident in every performance.

Louberta was a woman of faith and embraced the Baptist tradition. She lived a life marked by compassion, dedication, and a deep love for her family and community.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Weatherton (1993), and her second husband, Richard “Dick” Demorest (2010), as well as her parents.

She is lovingly remembered by her sons, Robert B. Weatherton III (Cheryl) and Michael E. Weatherton (Renee); her grandchildren, Ashley Renee Wells (Anthony), Derek Michael Weatherton, and Robert B. Weatherton IV (Christina); and her great-grandchildren, Avery Wells and Peyton Weatherton. She is also survived by her sisters, Veronica Smith, and Judy Vance (Elton), and her brother, Arthur “Pepper” Eugene Beidleman III., along with many cherished nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

A service to celebrate Louberta’s life will be held at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel on Friday, May 1, 2026, at 11am, officiated by Rev. Floyd Coates. A reception will follow at the Omps Reception Center. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fremont Street Nursery, 533 Fremont Street, Winchester, VA 22601, or to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 W. Cork St., Suite 405, Winchester, VA 22601.

Louberta will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for her kindness, her beautiful voice, and the love she gave so freely to all who knew her.

I am sorry to hear of Mrs. Weatherton's passing. She was my 2nd and 3rd grade teacher and had a huge impact on my education. Best teacher I ever had.

Mrs. Weatherton was a blessing and always showed how much she cared for our sons. She helped them feel at home when we moved here. She will be missed by all of us.

She was so kind to sing "Amazing Grace" at my dad's service when he passed. Such a sweet and loving person. Prayers to all that she left behind as I know she will be deeply missed.

I loved Louberta. I sang with her many years ago in several hospital Follies productions. She was kind, so much fun, and so immensely talented. I lost touch with her some time ago. I am sad that we haven't kept in touch all these years. Rest in peace, my friend. Love and sincere condolences to her family.

All I know is that I am missing a 1st cousin who always had love in her heart and a smile on her face every time I saw her. Her family was a joy to be around, she created a place for me to lay my head and I will look back to those days as joyful, musical and caring. We will walk together again soon...

Louberta was a very special singer in Winchester Musica Viva from its earliest seasons. One special memory for me is her solo in “Song for Billie Holiday” in my “Afro-American Fragments.” The solo ends with a quiet high A which she floated up to perfectly. Extraordinary.

The Carr, Forney, and Frazier families honor Aunt Louberta and her family in this time of sorrow and remembering. May all the Demorest and Beidleman families have peace in this memorial to her love, blessing and talent that will go on forever!

I taught with Louberta or a few years at the old Frederick Douglass, and she has made a lasting impact on me. Her joy, her beautiful voice, and the love she had for her students, her friends, and her family will not be forgotten. In fact, the word “Joy” describes her completely. She was a beautiful woman, inside and out. My deepest sympathy to her loved ones. May the happy memories bring you comfort and warm your hearts.

Mrs,Weatherton was my third grade teacher at Frederick Douglass elementary many years ago.She was the kindest teacher who always made each student feel special and she made her class fun!I learned so much that year and she was my favorite teacher.Mrs.Weatherton had a light around her and she was wonderful .I want her kids and family to know she made a huge impact on her students and she was loved and thought of often.Rest easy in heaven Mrs.Weatherton .Im sure you’re up there singing in Gods angelic choir!

Louberta was a “best buddy” for over 30 years. During our phone chats we shared our faith, troubles and jokes. I had the privilege of visiting her classroom and seeing first-hand the love she had for her students. I also got to see/hear her sing at special concerts. God added an awesome soprano to His heavenly choir!
