Loretta Amelia Dovell Bailey, 71, of Stephens City, Virginia, died Monday, May 4, 2015, at her home.
Mrs. Bailey was born in 1943, in Front Royal, Virginia, the daughter of Edwin G. and Esther E. Dovell. She was a graduate of James Wood High School in Frederick County, Virginia, Class of 1961. Mrs. Bailey was a Graphic Artist for the Mitre Corporation in McLean, Virginia, retiring in 1995. She later became a self-employed artist, specializing in equine art.
She married Howard L. Bailey on December 24, 1986, in Boyce, Virginia.
Surviving with her husband is her son, Danny Dovell of Arlington, Virginia; sisters, Linda Cooke and husband, Ronald, of Clear Brook, Virginia, Rita King and husband, Clarence, of Berryville, Virginia; her brother, Theodore Dovell of Fort Valley, Virginia, her beloved chihuahua, Velcro and her two Jack Russells Biggie and Little Girl. She is also survived by her many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
One brother, David Dovell, preceded her in death.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Loretta was an avid horse lover and supporter of the annual pony swim at Chincoteague. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Company, P.O. Box 246, Chincoteague Island, Virginia, 23336.
