Lois Stickley, 88, of Middletown, Virginia, died Friday, May 25, 2018 in MontVue Healthcare Center, Luray, Virginia.
Lois was born in 1929, in Middletown, Virginia to the late G. Clyde Thompson and Esther Leidig Thompson. Lois will be forever known as the Wayside Inn “Bread Lady,” where she baked bread for 27 years prior to her retirement. She was a life time resident of Middletown, Virginia.
Lois married Virgil I. Stickley in 1947 having 3 children together. They were married 20 years.
Lois is survived by her children David Irvin Stickley (Judy) of Charlotte, North Carolina; Steven Allen Stickley (Barbara) of Stephens City, Virginia; and Cathy Ann Stickley (Cathy) of Front Royal, Virginia. Seven grandchildren; Tommy Stickley, Christopher Stickley, Donovan Sexton, Jordan Heberle, Nicholas Heberle, Denny Powell and Robin Powell; and three great-grandchildren. Lois also had a love for her nieces and nephews, and a special bond with Jaime Lichliter, Diane Statts and Debbie Combs.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings: Peggy Ryan, Esther Strosnider, Clyde Thompson and Anna Mary Grimm.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Sherando Presbyterian Church, 751 Fairfax Pike, Stephens City, Virginia.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Sherando Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. Rose Wayland officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent in honor of Lois Stickley to Sherando Presbyterian Church, 751 Fairfax Pike, Stephens City, VA 22655.
