Lois Helen Vis, 91, of Winchester, VA, passed away on Monday, February 19, 2024.
Lois was born in 1932 in Detroit, MI, the daughter of the late Frederick and Virginia Riecks. She was a graduate of Brighton High School and served our country during the Korean Conflict in the United States Army. Lois enjoyed gardening, going to her Bible Studies and spent a lot of time studying her Bible. She was a devout Missouri Lutheran. Lois was a great friend to many people. She was a Sunday school teacher for many years, was very active with her church and always willing to volunteer for whatever was needed.
Lois married Arthur M. Vis on August 28, 1954, in Washington D.C. He preceded her in death in 2002.
She is survived by her children, Virginia N. Vis (George), David A. Vis (Nancy), Sally Jo Grove (Skip); daughter-in-law, Karen Vis; grandchildren, Katherine More (Noe), Kellie Cardwell (Jody), William Vis (Charyn), Martina Stevens (Stanford); 3 great-grandchildren and her sister, Patricia Roeske.
Along with her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Nancy A. Vis, her son, Peter M. Vis, and grandson, Christopher Wallace.
A service will be held for Lois on Friday, August 2, 2024 at 10am in Arlington National Cemetery.
