Gene Strosnider

Linwood Eugene “Gene” Strosnider, 72, of Cross Junction, Virginia, died Wednesday, May 11, 2011, in Winchester Medical Center.

Mr. Strosnider was born in 1938, in Baltimore, Maryland, the son of the late Herbert L. and Rhoda Strosnider. He was the owner of Strosnider Drywall and Home Construction. Mr. Strosnider attended Highland Presbyterian Church in Winchester, Virginia. He was a Veteran having served in the United States Navy.

He married Nancy Marie Boyce on April 7, 1973, in Orlando, Florida.

Surviving with his wife are two daughters, Donna Cowgill Houghton and her husband, Jonathan Lee, of Shawneeland, Deborah Jean Strosnider of Winchester: three grandchildren, Jessica Nicole Henson, Charles Nathan Rhodes, Carrie Denise Cowgill; and one great granddaughter Maiya Miracle Vernon. Three sisters and four brothers, preceded him in death.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Monday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. Interment will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jon Dorrance, Charles Rhodes, Terry Crosen, Keith Funk, Tim Taylor and Garland Cooper, Sr.

The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon, from 3:00-5:00 PM, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.

Memorial contributions in Gene’s Memory may be made to Reynolds Store Volunteer Fire and Rescue, P.O. Box 235, Cross Junction, Virginia, 22625.
