Linden Vann, 87, of Winchester, died at Winchester Medical Center Saturday, April 27 surrounded by family.
Linden was born February 6, 1932, in Winchester, VA, son of the late Linden and Thelma Barton Vann.
Mr. Vann graduated from Stephens City High School and earned an associates degree from Potomac State College. He served in the Army from which he was honorably discharged in 1956. After leaving the military he started his 50 plus year career as a homebuilder which he continued until his retirement.
He married the love of his life, Patricia Haun Vann on May 19, 1963, in Winchester, VA. Linden never let a day go by without telling her how much he loved her.
He loved talking to his neighbors, working in the yard, and lending a hand wherever it was needed. His greatest joy was attending the Church of Christ at Mountain View, spending time with his three grandchildren, and walking his “Granddog”, Oliver.
Surviving with his wife of 55 years are son, Linden Allen Vann, III of Atlanta, GA, daughter, Stephanie E. Vann Renner and husband, Christopher of Glen Allen, VA, and three grandchildren, William Christopher Renner, Anna Virginia Renner, and Jacob Linden Renner. He is also survived by one brother, Stephen Vann. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Hilda Shackleford and Norma Jean Wingfield.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 7 from 6-8 pm at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, May 8 at the Church of Christ at Mountain View with Minister Chris Straley officiating. Interment will be at Shenandoah Memorial Park-Mausoleum
Pallbearers will be Linden Vann, III, Christopher Renner, William Renner, Anna Renner, Jacob Renner, and Bobby Haun.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Church of Christ at Mountain View, 153 Narrow Lane, Winchester, VA 22602
