Linda Lou (Miller) Ramey, 87, of Frederick County, VA passed away on Friday, June 5, 2020, at Blue Ridge Hospice Inpatient Care Center.

Mrs. Ramey was born in 1933 in Winchester, VA, daughter of the late Russell and Eithel Miller. She was a graduate of James Wood High School, Class of 1952. Mrs. Ramey was a Domestic Engineer/Farmer within the family’s home. She was a member of Mt. Olive United Methodist Church, where she participated in the Olive Oyls Women’s Group and was always involved in making apple butter, at the church and at home. Mrs. Ramey was a lifetime member of the Winchester/Frederick County Conservation Club. She was a 4-H Leader who enjoyed sewing/quilting, gardening and canning the rewards of the garden, baking pies, and always loved to go fishing. Mrs. Ramey was a hard working woman that possessed a strong faith in the Lord and cared deeply about her family.

Her husband, Carlton Leslie Ramey, Jr., whom she married on August 18, 1951 in Winchester, VA, preceded her in death in 2010.

Surviving are daughters, Cindy Bell-Pitcock (Boyd) of Star Tannery, VA; Karen Jeter of Hayfield, VA; Carmen Westfall (Anthony) of Rocky Top, TN; and Belinda Heflin (Eric) of Winchester, VA; grandchildren, Andrea Gomez, Ashton Strosnider, Calan Bell Coffman, Aaron Jeter, Emily Renner, Josh Heflin, Eric Heflin, II, Krystal Hall, and Lori Baker; eleven great grandchildren; sister, Onile Bishop of Winchester, VA; and brother, Robert Miller of Arlington, VA.

Along with her parents and her husband, Mrs. Ramey was preceded in death by a sister, Beatrice Benson.

A visitation will be from 6 pm to 8 pm on Tuesday at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 am on Wednesday at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel with Dave Owings and Reverend Seung Hae Yoo-Hess officiating. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park, Winchester, Virginia.

Serving as pallbearers will be Charlie Anderson, Ron Moran, Hershell Kelly, Casey Wine, Brett Patterson, Perry Lewis, Brian Bennett, and Tim Lillis.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Linda’s memory to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 W. Cork Street, Suite 405, Winchester, Virginia 22601.

Aunt Linda you have always been such a positive person in my life. You always told things like they were and found a laugh in every conversation. I'm so grateful and blessed to have had you in my life. I will miss the talks we have had recently and the stories about my dad and growing up with each other , you still knew him so well. lol... I can still see you and Belinda helping make apple butter at your house with my girls many years ago, I will cherish these memories and so many more... P.S. Aunt Linda I am going to plant a pot of Snapdraggons outside just like you planned to do... I hope your dancing with uncle Buddy in a field of snapdraggons.. I Love you Always & Forever

Though I did not know Linda personally, I knew her through her daughter, Karen and through her neighbors, Ron and Dot. My sympathy and prayers are for all her family. Everything I ever heard about Linda was that she was a positive influence on all who knew her.

Mrs Ramey was a great 4-H leader when my grandparents helped me enroll. We had some great times in the Gainesboro 4-H club.

We will miss our dear friend and neighbor, Linda. Will miss our lengthy chats about the Bible and God’s Grace and Mercy. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She prayed for them and talked about them often. Last but not least, pie maker extraordinaire but I will miss her mincemeat pies the most!

Mom mom was without a doubt the most caring and generous person I have ever met. I’m honored to be her granddaughter and I hope that I can be even half as loving as she was. I know if I do that my kids will be truly blessed. I love her and will miss her greatly.

Mom Mom always loved to go fishing and would just sit there even if they were not biting, no one could clean the trout faster than her either. We know Lily will always remember her times at the pond with her Mom Mom, and Bodhi will be grateful to be held by her.
