Linda H. Golightly

Linda Louise Heckert Golightly, 71, of Winchester, Virginia, died Sunday, January 6, 2013, in her home surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Golightly was born in 1941, in Winchester, Virginia, the daughter of the late Carl Ray and Stella Heckert. She was a Cafeteria Aide with Daniel Morgan Middle School, serving for 11 years. Mrs. Golightly was a member of Burnt Factory United Methodist Church and a member of the Judges Athletic Association. She truly loved “Handley Football”, “Apple Blossom”, yard sales and time spent with her family.

She married James F. “Grease” Golightly on July 13, 1957, in Winchester, Virginia. Mr. Golightly preceded her in death on June 1, 2011.

Surviving are five daughters, Melanie Melester and husband, Steve, of Winchester, Donna “Peanut” Golightly of Stephens City, Dorothy “Dottie” Carter and husband, Spanky, Teresa Golightly, all of Winchester, Susan Williams and husband, Billy, of Strasburg; five grandchildren, Ben Melester, Sam Melester, Josh Carter and wife, Kristen, Emily Melnikoff and Evan Williams; two great grandchildren, Abby Melester and Levi Carter; and a special little girl, Hannah Merriner.

Her son, Christopher Ray Golightly and her sister, Ann Heckert Fletcher, preceded her in death.

The family will receive friends on Friday evening, from 6:00-8:00 PM, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Saturday, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, with Reverend Steve Melester officiating. Entombment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Pallbearers will be Lenny Millholland, Tim Mondell, Keith Roberts, Joe Hulver, Mark Taylor and Bobby Orndorff.

Honorary Pallbearers will be the cafeteria workers of Daniel Morgan Middle School.

Memorial contributions may be made to Burnt Factory United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 399, Stephenson, Virginia 22656.
