Linda “Lynne” Bayliss Van Evera, 68, of Winchester, Virginia, died Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at Heritage Hall Nursing Facility in Front Royal, Virginia.

Lynne was born in 1947, in Winchester, Virginia, the daughter of the late Mary Louise and Ellis E. Bayliss, Jr. She was a graduate of James Wood High School, Class of 1965. Lynne was a Day Program Supervisor and Volunteer Coordinator with NW Works, Inc. in Winchester. She was a member of Little Mountain United Methodist Church in Winchester, Virginia. Lynne loved cooking and shopping, was an avid reader, enjoyed traveling and visiting the beach.

Surviving is her son, Morgan Van Evera of Richmond, Virginia; sisters, Joanie Booth (Rick) of Atlanta, Georgia, Laura Simmons (James) of Winchester; brother, Bentley Bayliss of Winchester; nieces, Emilee Simmons of Leeds, United Kingdom, Olivia Booth of New York City, New York; nephew, Eric Bayliss (Renee) of Stephens City; great nephews, Collin, London and Phoenix Bayliss; former husband, Peter Van Evera of Ashland, Wisconsin, sister-in-law, Deb Bayliss, and former sister-in-law, Robin Bayliss.

One brother, E.E. “Shotsie” Bayliss and her nephew, Brian Bayliss preceded her in death.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, March 31, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to NW Works, Inc., 3085 Shawnee Drive, Winchester, Virginia, 22601.

I am so sorry to learn of Lynne's death. She was such a pleasant person to be around - always with a smile and something positive to say. She gave 110% to whatever she did. I know her life impacted all those she helped at the Northwestern Workshop, later NW Works. Sure she has left a void in their hearts. She was a good person, a true team player, a creative soul and a delight to have known. She will be missed. May her memory be eternal! Dear Morgan, I was so very sad to learn of your Mom's death. She was such a dear friend for so long and such an integral part of Northwestern Workshop. She had a way and love for even the most challenging among us. We always got warm comments about her from caring family members. She was a joy, always with a smile and those beautiful blue eyes! The last time I saw you, I think, was when you stayed with my grandson Andrew at the Greek church during the wedding. Andrew is now married himself! I graduated from JWHS with Lynne. She was such a nice person. I cannot be there Thursday night because of work but wish to convey my thoughts and prayers to the family.

Lynn was the most wonderful person who I know. She was always caring for everyone she met. She will be missed.

Lynne was very special to us. She was a supervisor/advocate for Lisa (and many others) at NW Works for many years. Lynne was a caretaker to Lisa in our home as well as during many outings, socials, and Bayliss family gatherings. There was no place that Lynne went that Lisa was not welcome to be there. We are thankful for and will remember the many good times. Lynne was a caring friend to many; she will be missed.

Peace of mind is a call away. We're here when you need us most.

I'm so sorry to hear about Lynne's passing. She was such a loving soul and made my daughter's (Courtney Lentz) day at NW Works. Her sense of humor and caring will be missed so much.
