Lester E. Racey
Lester Elwood Racey, 89, of Frederick County, Virginia died Thursday, December 1, 2011, in his home.
Mr. Racey was born in 1922, in Opequon, Virginia the son of the late Robert and Ruth Racey. He was the Owner and Operator of Racey Furniture and Cabinet Shop in Winchester, retiring in 2006. Lester apprenticed at Copenhaver Furniture Winchester, Virginia and later was employed by Glaize and Brother’s Winchester, Virginia. He was a Veteran having served in the United States Army during World War II.
He married Hilda C. Racey on June 2, 1945, in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
Surviving with his wife is his sister, Alcesta “Benny” Dyke of Stephenson, Virginia and nieces and nephews
One sister, Hisley Baker and three brothers, Stuart, Robert, and Charles Racey, preceded him in death.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Saturday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with Reverend William Withers officiating, Interment will be in Gainesboro Cemetery, Gainesboro, Virginia.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, prior to the service, from 10:00 – 11:00 AM, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
