To Leona's family and her friends: Leona's passing pains me deeply. But your grief makes mine seem trivial at best. I felt privileged to befriend her by email and to admire her because she was fine writer and and exemplary Catholic. Please remember a line Jamie Owens-Collins sang when I was in high school, "The bitter tears you've tasted will be diamonds in your crown." Leona still loves, especially know when she's in heaven or preparing to go there. Love and many prayers, Bill
Linda Rompot left a message on May 16, 2023:
Condolences to the family. So sad to hear this wonderful lady was no longer with us. Leona brought our Rompot family alive with her extensive research and knowledge of the Rompot history. We will always be thankful for what she brought to life in her book about the family. I sadly have to say my husband, Thomas William Rompot, a cousin of Leona passed away last year. Thoughts and prayers to our family, Linda Rompot

Beautiful tribute to the finest woman I have had the privilege to meet. Charming, caring and giving from her heart. I wish I had the knowledge and growth to know the strength Leona provided to her family and friends. Rest In Peace, Your Memory is a Blessing.

We at International Students, Inc. are so thankful for the foundation of ministry to international students that Leona and Ted built during their years of outreach in the 1960s. They have left behind a rich legacy! As our President recently commented, Leona is one of "God’s finest called to permanent furlough with their Master." We thank God for her and Ted's investment in the nations! She is rejoicing with many of those former students before His throne now! We pray that will comfort your hearts.

“A Cherished Memory of Leona” During a crisp fall day, mid-October 2018, I had the pleasure of spending an afternoon with Leona. As I entered her office, the writing coach directed me to her “coaching chair” in preparation for a celebration. The celebration was a “Shout Out!” of praise to God for my achievement in publishing a novel. Leona awarded me a butterfly “Shout Out” pin as a reminder of my success. I will always treasure the little pink butterfly pin. Leona is one of the most spiritual people I have ever met. I will be forever grateful that God made our paths crossed. Jill Darnell

One Sunday morning, I sat down next to Leona at church. Who knew that she had so many Chinese ministry contacts and I wanted to be a missionary to China? We soon started talking and found these things out. She was instrumental in me going to Hong Kong for three summers with PESI, a wonderful ministry. What I learned there I took back here to Winchester and did international student ministry, especially to Chinese students, at Shenandoah University. Through the years we've kept in touch and prayed for each other. What a special friend she is and such and encouragement and role model to joyfully embrace old age with our eyes fixed on the prize and finishing well. Thank you, Jesus, for putting Leona in my life!

When my husband passed away 11 years ago, a friend gave me one of Leona’s books which helped me through those difficult days. I also was able to speak with her on the telephone during that time. She was a very caring person with sound counsel. I have several of her books which I share with others who are dealing with the loss of a spouse. May God bless her legacy.
Peace of mind is a call away. We're here when you need us most.

Leona. God graced the earth and his children with certain individuals that are the light and salt of the earth. Those individuals bring hope, peace and joy in our lives. Yours is an ongoing gift to us. I am honored to have been a friend and you have touched my life with wisdom and caring and thru your wonderful family. While your body may have left us...your presence will be felt thru your writings and emails and postings and videos for as long as this earthly age exists, helping, advising , teaching and caring. While your physical body is no longer with us and we mourn , and the thought brings a tear to our eyes . We miss you very much. It was a blessing knowing you . Thank you for touching our lives. Thru your works you will always be with us. .until we meet again.

Tim and Joyce Hunt left a message on March 10, 2023:
We will be praying for you all during these difficult times. Leona was such an inspiration to both of us over the years. My wife Joyce was very blessed and encouraged by Leona’s book “Singled Out for God’s Assignment” personally after losing her first husband. We travelled to Virginia to meet Leona and pick up a case of books (because Leona thought it was a ridiculous price to ship them to Canada) and afterward used them many times while comforting ladies who had lost spouses. We are so glad she did, otherwise we may have never had the pleasure of meeting her personally. We have been blessed and encouraged many times since by following her Blog and reading some of her other books. May God Bless and comfort each of you as only He can. Tim and Joyce Hunt….Woodstock Ontario Canada.

To Rick & the many family members, Thank you for sharing Leona to the world. She was truly an inspiration, friend, prayer warrior and boss for many years. Thank you Leona for the many years of loving me as one of your own. Thoughts/Prayers to the family, but know she will be waiting at Jesus's feet when it's our turn to leave this Earth. Love to all
Barb Nystedt left a message on March 7, 2023:
To all of Bubi's family - you have our utmost condolence on the passing of Bubi. I only saw Bubi a couple of times but knew she was a kind and sweet lady. Leona was a talented writer and served the Lord in her mission work along with her husband, Ted. It truly is a small world. A couple of years ago I found out Bubi and Ted went to Wheaton College in IL. I grew up two towns east of Wheaton and even "cruised" the campus when I was in high school. I started saving the daily emails Bubi posted I hopes of printing them some day for Yazmin to read when she is older. Bubi is home now with her Lord and Savior. May you all have peace knowing she's in Heaven with Him.
