Lee E. Dolan, Jr.

Lee Eldridge Dolan, Jr. 92, of Frederick County, Virginia, died June 16, 2011, in Winchester Medical Center.

Mr. Dolan was born in 1918, in Massey’s Mill, Virginia, the son of the late Lee E. Dolan, Sr. and Hattie Dolan Bailey. He was a retired Electrical Engineer with the Department of Defense. He attended First Christian Church. Mr. Dolan was a graduate of Virginia Tech receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering. He was a Veteran during World War II having served in the United States Air Force and the Air Force Reserves. He was stationed in England, serving with the 303rd Bomb Group “Hells Angels”. Mr. Dolan achieved the rank of Major.

He married Naomi Marie Dalton on June 1, 1941, in Lynchburg, Virginia.

Surviving with his wife, are a son and two daughters; Doug Dolan and his wife, Cheryl of Martinsburg, West Virginia, Bonnie Dolan Lynch and her husband, Bryan of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, and Patti Dolan Rogers and her husband, Tom of Frederick County, Virginia; eight grandchildren, Anne Marie Corley, Brian Dolan, Stacie Nicandri, David Lynch, Cathy Lynch, Kelley Eck, Kimberly Thomas and Karin Denault; and sixteen great-grandchildren.

One brother, James Dolan, preceded him in death.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 am on Wednesday, at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel with Pastor Joan Rainsberger officiating. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park Mausoleum, Frederick County, Virginia.

A reception and light refreshments will follow the interment at Spring Arbor.

The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 am on Wednesday, at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.

I would like to extend my condolences to the family. I am so sorry for your loss. My Mother was Dorothy Wright O'Brien, her Father was Oney Wright who was brother to Hattie Dolan Bailey. I grew up in Nelson County (and still live there), and have fond memories of Hattie, Lee & Eldridge visiting us at our home in Norwood, VA. I last saw Eldridge about 6-7 yrs. ago when he hosted a "Reunion" of the sorts and all of the "Wright" decendants gathered for lunch at Charley's in Lynchburg, VA. My Mother & I attended along with my 2 sisters. Marion Wright Bragg, Jimmy Wright & Josephine Wright Wilhelm were also in attendance, they (including my Mother) are all deceased now. Through my research on Ancestry.com, I discovered this obituary. Lee Dolan, Sr was my mother's uncle, thus this is her first cousin. Her Dad was Clifford Palmer Dolan. I am so sorry that we were never acquainted. Connie Miller, Afton, VA
