Lawrence Ross “Larry” Ambrogi, 83, of Frederick County, Virginia passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, September 22, 2020, at Winchester Medical Center.
Larry was born in 1937 in Washington, DC, son of the late Lawrence and Isabella Ambrogi. He graduated from Washington-Lee High School in Arlington, Virginia. Larry continued his education at Randolph Macon College, earning a Bachelor’s degree, and a Juris Doctor degree from American University in Washington, DC. He was Commonwealth Attorney for Frederick County, Virginia, retiring in 2007 after 38 years of service. Larry was a member of the Winchester Moose Lodge and the Masonic Lodge. He was also a member of First Presbyterian Church of Winchester.
Larry married Carole Harper on May 26, 1962 in Rockville, Maryland.
Surviving with his wife is a daughter, Elaine A. Popkin (Keith) of Wilmington, North Carolina and a son, Lawrence B. Ambrogi of Winchester, Virginia; five grandchildren, Michele Ambrogi, Michael Ambrogi (Stephanie), Thomas, Cordon, and Spencer Witherington; four great-grandchildren, Lillian, Alice, Everly, and Elliott Ambrogi; and sister, Karen Moore of Statesville, North Carolina.
All services will be private. Arrangements are being handled by Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
