Lawrence E. Martin, Jr.
Lawrence E. “Larry” Martin, Jr., 70, of Winchester, VA died Thursday, June 30, 2016 in Blue Ridge Hospice Residential Center.
Mr. Martin was born in 1945 in Winchester, VA, the son of the late Lawrence E. Martin, Sr. and Edith May Sunderlin. He was a veteran solider during the Vietnam War serving with the United States Army. Larry was employed at Henkel-Harris as a Sander, following his retirement he later worked for Arby’s and eventually Food Lion. Lawrence was a dedicated Christian and attended both the Church of the Good Shepherd and College Park Church of Christ. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. He will be forever remembered for his love of his faith, family, playing his drums and his five very special grand-pugs. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Mr. Martin married Jo Ann Fiddler on May 24, 1969 in Winchester, VA.
Surviving with his wife of 47 years are two daughters, Wendy Manuel and her husband Christopher of Front Royal, Virginia and Brandi Knight and her husband Robert of Winchester, Virginia; one grandson, Michael A. Knight; one sister, Donna Crouse and her husband Terry of Cross Junction, Virginia as well as many extended family members and close friends.
Mr. Martin was preceded in death by son, Lawrence E. Martin, III and a brother, Donald Martin.
A graveside service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 with Reverend Larry Veach officiating at Shenandoah Memorial Park, Frederick County, Virginia where military honors will be afforded by the local V.F.W. Post #2123. A celebration of life and reception will follow immediately at Omps Reception Center, 1600 Amherst Street, Winchester, Virginia.
