Lawrence E. Butts (LB), 44, of Stephens City, Virginia died Wednesday, July 6, 2011 in Winchester Medical Center.

Larry was born in 1966 in Winchester, Virginia the son of Janet Louise Dove and the late B.B. Butts. He was the grandson of the late Ruth and Granville Butts of Martinsburg, WV and Zatae and Sam Dove of Winchester, VA.

Surviving with his mother is his brother, Michael Scott Butts, his niece Tish Butts both of Maryland, and his precious pet, Amber.

While growing up in Martinsburg, Larry attended Rosemont Elementary School and South Junior High School. He graduated from James Wood High School in 1985 and the University of Maryland in 1997. He was a Voice Systems Engineer with Time Warner Communication and attended Grace Community Church. He was a member of the Elks Lodge BPOE 867. Larry had a tremendous love of music which included playing the guitar and singing. He occasionally performed at Christina’s Café, Strasburg, VA and Battletown Inn.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with Pastor Mike Woods officiating. Interment will be private.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, prior to the service from 1:00-2:00 pm at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.

He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

It was a real pleasure to know LB both on a personal and professional level! He was always ready to break out his guitar and sing a familiar tune or just make up one. His song "Whiskey Tree" showed how he used music to cope with whatever life dealt him. He is now singing in perfect harmony with Jesus and the angels!
