Lawrence B. Carpenter, Jr.
Lawrence Boyd Carpenter, Jr. “Larry”, 68, of Middletown, Virginia, died Sunday, June 23, 2013, in his home.
Mr. Carpenter was born in 1944, in Sewell, New Jersey, the son of the late Lawrence B. and Florence H. Carpenter, Sr. He was a retired Machinist Millwright with DuPont Deepwater/DuPont Elastomers in New Jersey. Mr. Carpenter was a Veteran having served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Conflict. He achieved the rank of Seabee / Gunners Mate. Mr. Carpenter was a member of Sherando Presbyterian Church in Stephens City, as well as Presbyterian Church of Woodbury in New Jersey. In addition, he was a member of the American Legion, AMVETS, VFW, the Sons of the American Legion, and 40/8. He loved hunting and bowling.
He married Lillian Mable Borders on March 6, 1993, in Woodbury, New Jersey.
Surviving with his wife are two daughters, Patricia Marie Hans and husband, David, of Williamstown, New Jersey, Brenda Lea Hunter of Pitman, New Jersey; sons, Lawrence Boyd Carpenter, III and wife, Nancy, of Stephens City, Virginia, Dennis Lee Borders, Jr., of Gloucester City, New Jersey, William James Borders of Deptford, New Jersey; 18 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and three sisters. One grandson preceded him in death.
A funeral service will be conducted at a later date at the Presbyterian Church at Woodbury with The Reverend Dr. Phil Oehler officiating. Interment will be at Eglington Cemetery in Clarksboro, New Jersey.
