Laura Val Jean Marple Hahn, 86, of Gore, Virginia passed away Monday, June 25, 2018, at Blue Ridge Hospice Residential Center.
Mrs. Hahn was born in 1931 in Frederick County, Virginia, the daughter of the late Urban J.”U.J.” and Edith Marple. She was the last child born to her parents on the family farm in Frederick County, Virginia and graduated from the first graduating class of James Wood High School in 1951. While in school she worked at Gold’s Orchard, harvesting peaches and apples. After marrying her husband, Charles, they relocated to the Baltimore area and she continued to work at various places: High’s Dairy, Two Guys Department Store, and Continental Can Company where she was a production line inspector. Charles and Jean moved back to Frederick County. She loved gardening and working in the yard, as well as watching baseball and listening to talk radio. Mrs. Hahn enjoyed attending yard parties at local churches and fire departments. Mrs. Hahn was a member of the Gore Ladies Auxiliary Volunteer Fire Department and was one of the many faces behind the scenes preparing the yard party dinners. She was a kind person who enjoyed helping others. A wonderful, loving mother and friend that will be sorely missed by many.
