Kevin N. Wardlow, Sr., passed away on Monday, September 2, 2024, at Winchester Medical Center.
Kevin was born in Paris, TN, the son of the late TJ and Mattie Ruth Wardlow. He graduated from Millington High School in Tennessee and went on to receive his Bachelor’s of Science Degree from the United States Military Academy, West Point, Class of 1975. Kevin went on to serve our country in the United States Army where he rose to the rank of Captain and was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal. He worked as Program Director for Lockheed Martin Corporation and retired as Vice President from SRA, International. Kevin was a driven man who lived the ideals of duty, honor, and country throughout his life and is leaving that legacy through his family and the many he has mentored through the years. He quietly and generously donated to his community and was a proud member of the American Legion. Above all else, Kevin loved spending time with his beloved family and canine companions.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Mary; his son Kevin Wardlow Jr. (Kelly); daughter Kate Welch (Craig); grandchildren Mackenzie, Chloe, Carsten and Connor Wardlow and Lily and Ronan Welch; and his many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Kevin is also preceded in death by his sister Jody Daily and his brother Terry Wardlow.
A Memorial Service will be held for Kevin on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at 11:30am with Pastor Alan Morrison officiating followed by a Celebration Reception from 12pm to 2pm, all at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, 1600 Amherst Street, Winchester, VA 22601.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Kevin to Blue Ridge Food Pantry, 1802 Roberts Street, Winchester, VA 22601 or Winchester SPCA, 111 Featherbed Lane, Winchester, VA 22601.
